THE MEDIEVAL CASTLE OF ERGEME

Dishes

Fragments of bronze, clay and glassware have been found in Ergeme Castle. Large metal pots were used in the household. Kitchen earthenware consisted of red clay pots and tripods turned on a pottery wheel and glazed inside. Tables were set with flat plates. Two are decorated with unusual flowers and in their centres are drawings of two fish. An almost intact, thin bottle made of stoneware was also found in the excavations. Other bottles were made of glass. One of them was particularly luxurious - colourful lines and a plant motif was painted thereon. Fragments of glasses made of glass with a smooth, cylindrical top and a faceted top were also found.
